NEW ELO FAN TRIBUTE CD FOR CHARITY
AUGUST 10, 2010, (ALBANY, NEW YORK, USA) --
In celebration of the Electric Light Orchestra’s 40th
Anniversary,
members of the Official Electric Light Orchestra
“Showdown” Mailing List are proud to announce the
release of a brand new, 12 song tribute CD on August 10,
2010, entitled “Scattered Light: A Fan Tribute To
Electric Light Orchestra” with the net proceeds
earmarked for two important charities.
Four years in the making and recorded
all over the world, "Scattered Light" unites talented
ELO fans from the U.S., UK, Australia, Germany and
The
Netherlands who all share a love for the
music of ELO.
The CD features new cover versions of
classic ELO album tracks and hit singles such as
"Strange Magic," "Can't Get It Out
Of My Head," and "Showdown", culminating with a "Mr.
Blue Sky" grand finale that blends performances by a
collective of 8 musicians across 5 U.S. states plus the
UK.
Electric Light Orchestra was formed
by original members Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood and Bev Bevan
in 1970, with the goal of merging rock and classical
music. The band charted over two dozen hit singles in
the UK and US, becoming a global success in the process
with over 50 million albums sold.
All net proceeds from this CD will be given to two
charities chosen by the contributors involved: The
George Harrison Material World Foundation (in honor of
Jeff Lynne’s great friendship with George Harrison) and
Birmingham Children’s Hospital (located in ELO’s
hometown of Birmingham, England). Pre-orders for the CD
