"When I signed up to the Showdown mailing list I had little idea what I was
getting involved in. There was new, old, and sometimes obscure information
about my favorite band. People from all over the world (s'cuse the pun)
could ask questions about anything ELO related and get the answers from
people who knew more about ELO than anyone, such as Rob Caiger, a name
you'll find on the remaster series of albums, and held together by the
perpetually patient Lynn Hoskins. Many people became regular suppliers of
topics. In the end, names on a website became friends and part of my ELO
family. One day someone said something like "Wouldn't it be a great idea for
us to record some ELO songs, send them to Jeff and see what he thinks, maybe
it would encourage him to tour again or write more songs." Well, that was
some time ago now but here we are in 2010 - songs done, dusted and ready to
face the music."
